European Deaf Youth Games

Congratulations to Chloe Farrington who has returned to the UK having competed in her first international competition – the European Deaf Youth Games in Hannover.

Chloe raced nine times across the week, achieving five PB’s, six finals and a Silver Medal.  She gained invaluable experience of racing in an international environment as part of the GB Deaf Swimming team with great support by UK Deaf Sport.

The wider GB swimming team consisted of nine swimmers and they produced a fabulous result, collectively achieving 49 PB’s, 25 swimming medals, and GB finishing second in the overall medal table. 

Chloe also got an unexpected introduction to another aspect of international competition! Following the relay, she was selected for anti-doping testing and had to take her own blood sample, which was a new experience for her and all part of learning what competing at this level involves.

Overall Chloe had a brilliant week, thoroughly enjoyed being part of the GB team and has come home with some great memories and, hopefully, an appetite for more international racing.  Her goal now will be to build towards the next Deaf Olympics in Athens 2029.
